Analytical Chemistry/Small Molecule Core

Overview of Services

 

The Analytical Chemistry/Small Molecule Corefacility provides analytical chemistry services in support of clinical and basic science research within and outside of the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Liquid and gas chromatography with mass spectroscopy capabilities are available for monitoring and quantifying compounds of interest, with a particular focus on small molecules. Services will also be provided for the method development and validation of new assays.

 

Available Instrumentation


  • Liquid Chromatography- Mass Spec/Mass Spec (LC-MS/MS) currently equipped for small molecule analyses such as drugs, drug metabolites, and lipids.
  • Gas Chromatography-Mass Spec (GC-MS) equipped to analyze small molecules not amenable to liquid chromatography separation.
  • Gas Chromatography (GC) equipped with a flame ionization detector, currently used for fatty acid analysis.
  • High Pressure Liquid Chromatography two independent units available with UV/VIS, diode array, and fluorescence detection.
  • Multiplex analysis for protein molecules (ELISA based format) using an MSD platform, samples can be analyzed for chemokines, cytokines, and other signaling molecules.
